The UK may suffer a "little ice age" until 2040

Image
All the way back in my science class in 2008 I predicted the UK, Western Europe and North America would suffer colder winters until at least 2040. Since my prediction in 2008, the UK alone suffered cold winters in 2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2012/13. North America have also suffered record cold and snow over the same time frame as well, in fact, the current cold snap in the US prompted President Trump to mock global warming. However, despite Trump's comments, the cold winters do not disprove global warming, but they are a result of something very interesting going on that may result in much colder winter over the coming decades. Low Solar Activity The last time solar activity fell dormant there was a period known as the mini ice age (16th-19th century) which prompted  Sky News  to write this headline. Since 2008 solar activity has declined substantially with solar cycle 24 being weaker than average and scientists believe the sun may well be repeating a Dalton Minimum or

Evidence for Global Warming

Source: NASA Global warming stopped in 1998 cry the climate sceptics, they claim global warming stopped in 1998, however, the evidence points to the contrary . It is true that global warming did slow down after the powerful El-Nino of 1998, although, this is not unusual, there was a slowdown in global warming between 1950-1975. Global temperatures do not increase in a straight line, what is observed in the 20th century and now the 21st century is an increase in the trendline of temperatures. How do we know the increasing temperatures is because of human activity? The greenhouse gas theory is very simple, greenhouse gases trap heat from the sun making the Earth warmer. Since the industrial revolution, human activity is increasing greenhouse gas emissions, this traps extra heat from the sun causing the Earth to get warmer. Okay, so global temperatures and greenhouse gas emissions are rising, but how do we know one is causing the other? Mars and Venus To find evidence of the

The Anglo-American author Christopher Hitchens wrote in his book God is not great: How religions poison everything. "Violent, irrational, intolerant, allied to racism, tribalism and bigotry, invested in ignorance and hostile to free inquiry, contemptuous of women and coercive towards children, organised religion ought to have a great deal on its conscience." According to Hitchens, the three Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) are the source of bigotry and discrimination against women. In addition, the monotheist religions are affecting our lives on a daily basis, in this essay, I will illustrate how monotheism is detrimental to women's rights. Monotheist religions are discriminatory against women for two main reasons, the first reason being the explicit call for gender inequality. For example, Christianity states the following.   “Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.  And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, b

Cut taxes and increase capital investment to boost growth!

Cut corporate tax to 12.5% Slash income tax to 15% and 28% Fully transferable personal allowance £250bn investment over 10 years on infrastructure  Bank of England should adopt NGDP targeting The economy is in pretty good shape, ever since coming into office in 2010 the Tories have increased employment to record levels, reduced the deficit and managed to pull us from the great recession to steady growth rates of 2%. Pretty impressive right? As a Tory, I should be overwhelmingly happy at what the Conservatives have achieved right? Well, I am happy about what my party has achieved, however, I am disappointed at one thing. Steady growth. The economy, in my opinion, should be booming at 4% per annum, instead, we are growing at a sluggish 2%. To move the needle on growth I urge the government to cut taxes and invest in economic infrastructure to boost growth. If you want to boost short and long term economic growth, tax cuts and infrastructure spending is the way
